GRAPE: 73% Syrah, 20% Grenache Noir, 7% CinsaultCOUNTRY: France
750ML
14% ABV
Deep red colour with hints of violet. The nose is powerful and complex. It offers notes of fresh black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry) and floral violet. The nose opens up to fresh scents of peppermint, freshly picked black pepper and a hint of sweet spices. The lively, incisive attack bears witness to the youth of this 2021 vintage. Already complex and promising, the palate combines aromas of black plum, blackcurrant, cocoa and liquorice. Careful ageing in oak barrels produces supple, velvety tannins, allowing this wine to express all its finesse and elegance.
Chemin de Moscou comes from old vines of Syrah 68%, Grenache 25%, and Cinsault 7% grown on the estate's terraced vineyards which have been cultivated since Roman times. 21 months in French oak: A third of the Syrah in 'Burgundy' new oak for 9 months.
21 months in French oak: A third of the Syrah in 'Burgundy' new oak for 9 months. Grenache and Cinsault in 500 litre 'demi-muids' and 2000 litre 'foudres' for 9 months. Blending of the best barrels of each variety followed by a further 12 months maturation of the final blend in the same barrels.
"A blend of 68% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 7% Cinsault, the 2021 IGP Pays d'Oc Chemin de Moscou possesses a vibrant, elegant bouquet mingling aromas of red berries, blackberries, pepper, cherries, garrigue, licorice and violet. Delicately juicy and vinous, the wine on the palate is medium-bodied and perfectly balanced with fine-grained tannins and a lively, fresh finish. It has a real potential to improve in the cellar over the next 3-4 years."
